Scott is widely considered a 'once a generation talent' of Motorsport. With three consecutive Supercars Championships to his name, Scott is ready to take on the world in the US-based IndyCar series.
At the tender age of six, Scott began his racing career in Go-Karts in New Zealand.
The young kiwi progressed through the karting ranks, which continued across the Tasman when his family relocated to Australia in 2003.
Scott didn’t waste any time as a debut full-timer in 2013 winning his first championship race on home soil in New Zealand and finished 10th in his rookie season, also being named the Mike Kable Young Gun of the year.
Another two seasons with Volvo, McLaughlin made the move to the Shell V-Power Racing Team in 2017, joining fellow kiwi Fabian Coulthard to form one of the most promising combinations in the sport.
After narrowly missing out on the title in his debut year with Shell V-Power, Scott bounced back in 2018 securing his maiden championship with a season-high nine race wins and 13 pole positions.
In 2019, Scott embraced his championship defense, highlighted by a stunning victory at Bathurst 1000 before completing a record-breaking season, winning 17 races.
With a year like no other in 2020, Scott showed his maturity and class by once again defending his championship title, becoming the first Ford driver to win three consecutive Supercars Championships.
Scott’s talent has been recognised on an international level, with Team Penske unleashing Scott in the 2021 IndyCar Series in the US, after a successful debut test session in Texas where he finished third.
On a personal level, Scott is a sports nut and very passionate about his Western Bulldogs, New York Jets and enjoys playing golf when he can find the time.
Scott was recently married to his partner Karly, amongst family and friends in Los Angeles.
A fabricator by trade, Scott also hosts a podcast ‘Balls & Bumpers’ with long-time friend, Richmond Tigers’ star Jack Riewoldt.
I understand to be successful it takes hard work and sacrifice. I have always wanted to be the best and I love the challenge of finding improvement along the way. It’s these challenges that will drive me and make the journey all the more memorable as I continue to chase greatness.
