Taylor grew up in Corowa, NSW before moving to Caulfield Grammar to finish his schooling.
A strong draft year for Caulfield Grammar and also NSW/ACT Rams was enough to be selected at pick 69 by the Hawks. After two premierships at Hawthorn, Taylor was then traded to the Western Bulldogs to add leadership in the back half.
Taylor is a keen golfer and is also interested in fashion.
