The heart and soul of the Melbourne Football Club, Nathan is a man who will always put others before himself - both on and off-field. A leader in all aspects and a proud family man, Nath is the "cool" dad of two beautiful kids.
Hailing from the Mornington Peninsula, Jones began his AFL journey playing for the Dandenong Stingrays in the TAC Cup during his junior career. Selected to play for Vic Metro in AFL Under 18 Championships, Jones was named in the Under 18 All-Australian team, before being drafted by the Melbourne Football Club with the 12th pick in the 2005 National AFL Draft.
Since his debut in round 16 of 2006, Jones has gone on to be a stalwart of the Melbourne midfield.
Highlighting his consistency, Jones has placed top three in the club’s Best & Fairest five times between 2012-2017 including winning the award in 2012, 2013 & 2014.
Jones’ was appointed captain of the club in 2014 and held this role for five years alongside Jack Viney.
Nathan’s younger brother Zak currently plays for St Kilda.
Nathan is an experienced home renovator with the help of his wife Jerri.
A proud father or two (Bobbi & Remi), Nathan also enjoys the occasional surf when he finds the time.
