Kerri alongside beach volleyball partner Natalie Cook wrote themselves into Australian sporting folklore following their inspirational gold medal-winning performance at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Now a guest panellist and keynote speaker, Kerri is ready to share her incredible story.
Born in Adelaide, now residing in Sydney, Kerri’s volleyball journey began at the age of 15. Her love for indoor volleyball grew from there as she progressed through the ranks to represent Australia for a decade stretching from 1982. Kerri captained the national team in 1992 and played professionally in Bologna, North Italy on a Division 1 team in 1990.
In 1992, a serious knee injury forced Kerri off the hardcourt. Beach volleyball made its Olympic debut in Atlanta 1996 where Kerri and her partner won bronze. In the same year, they combined for a silver medal at the World Championships, and won the World Tour Event Japan.
With the eyes of the nation watching at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Kerri and partner Natalie Cook won gold in straight sets. The pair was awarded the Order of Australia and named in the Fédération Internationale Volleyball Team of the Decade.
After a brief retirement from the games, Kerri made a comeback for 2004 Athens Games. Domestically, Kerri won eight Australian titles and 17 medals from 92 events of the FIVB World Tour events before her retirement.
Kerri is currently on the board of Volleyball Australia, is the author of ‘The Business of Being an Athlete’ and operates a coaching business. She is also passionate about health, fitness and motivational speaking.
