The dual All-Australian has proven to be one of the most dynamic forwards in the competition Wingard has come into his own since relocating from South Australia to Victoria in 2019
Wingard was born in Murray Bridge, South Australia. He went to Unity College Murray bridge.
Chad Wingard was drafted by the Port Adelaide Football Club with the 6th selection in the 2011 AFL Draft. A full pre-season saw Wingard debut in round 1 and go on to play 19 games in his debut season. In just his second season Wingard would prove to be one of the most dynamic forwards in the competition, 43 goals from 23 games including three finals would see Wingard selected for his first All-Australian honor at the age of 20. Wingard continued his form over the next two seasons kicking 43 and 53 goals each year to make it a total of 139 goals as a small forward from 2013-2015. Unfortunately a mixture of injuries would restrict Wingards consistency over the following years forcing a change following the 2018 season. Hawthorn had requested a trade for the exciting small forward which would see him move to Victoria until 2023.
