Ben has played in almost every T20 competition in the world becoming one of Australia's first T20 specialists.
Ben was born in Melbourne but moved to Brisbane from a young age. His father Trevor represented Australia in the late 70’s. Ben and his wife Laura have 2 sons Ollie & Will.
Ben started the 2008/09 hoping to cement his spot in the Queensland team after making his debut at the back end of the previous summer and after a string of strong performances he found himself in the Australian limited overs squads for a trip for South Africa and the UAE. On this trip he made his ODI and T20I debuts. It was around this time that the BBL competition was started in Australia and Ben headed to Tasmania to play with the Hurricanes. His form was strong at the start of the BBL campaigns and was named in the Australian squad of 30 2012 T20 World Cup. After 3 seasons and 35 wickets with the Hurricanes Ben moved on to the Adelaide Strikers where he remained an integral member of their bowling unit which included the championship in BBL7. In 2017 Ben was brought in the IPL auction by the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Ahead of BBL9 Ben moved back to his home state of Queensland to play with Brisbane Heat. At the time of writing Ben is the highest wicket taker in BBL history and was the first man to take 100 wickets in the competition.
