Ashton is an attacking middle order batsman that has been a proven performer in white ball cricket.
Ashton was born and raised in Perth where he plays for Fremantle District Cricket Club. Ashton and his partner Krystenna have a young daughter.
Ashton represented WA at under 15,17 & 19 levels and was a member of the 2012 Australian Under 19 World Cup team taking 11 wickets in 6 games. In the 2012/13 summer Ashton was awarded a rookie contract with WA and made his List A debut late in the summer. The 2016/17 summer he enjoyed a breakout season scoring his maiden First Class century and following this up with another one 2 games later and he ended the summer with a T20I debut for Australia. Ashton continued to perform well for WA and the Perth Scorchers where he claimed the Simon Katich medal in 2018/19 as the Scorchers best player. His strong white ball form got him on the tour to India in March 2019 where he made his debut and in his second game he got man of the match when he scored 84not out off 43 balls to help Australia achieve their highest ever run chase of 359.
Off the field Ashton has his hands pretty busy with his young daughter but he is a coffee lover and also enjoys a round of golf.
